What is an AAC Block?
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete(AAC Blocks)developed in Sweden in 1924 is a Lightweight Block(three times lighter compared to bricks), certified green building material, porous, non-toxic, reusable, renewable and recyclable. At Cityrene we are keen on using eco-friendly and sustainable building materials. AAC blocks construction is one among them.
Manufacturing of AAC blocks:
AAC blocks are produced from the common materials lime, sand, cement and water, and a small amount of rising agent. After mixing and molding, the blocks are then autoclaved under heat and pressure to create its unique properties. AAC Blocks are an excellent type of building material due to its super heat, fire and sound resistance, these lightweight blocks offer ultimate workability.
AAC Block Price in Chennai:
Cost of 4″ AAC blocks: Rs.55/-
Cost of 6″ AAC blocks: Rs.65/-
Note:Price may vary on a daily basis.

Key Features
Benefits of AAC blocks construction
Cost Savings
AAC blocks are bigger in size compared to clay bricks thus reducing the need for mortar joints by 66%. Lightweight properties of this block leads to a lighter dead load on the building structure, thus light weight foundation can be used for saving cost.
Space
These blocks are only 6-inch thicker (whereas brick walls are 9 inch thick) providing more carpet area
Environmental Friendly
These light weight block is a non-toxic product. The waste from the manufacturing(cutting) process, is recycled back with raw materials and used again, making virtually no waste. Energy consumed in the production process of these blocks are far less(less than 1/2) compared to other materials. The finished product is thrice the volume of the raw materials used, making it extremely resource-efficient and environmentally friendly.
Pest Resistant
These blocks consist of the inorganic material in its constitution that helps preventing/avoiding termites, damages or losses.
Sound Proof
Superior sound absorption qualities due to porous structure of blocks. The Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of the AAC blocks is 45 db. Thus, AAC block construction is suitable for structures that require acoustic insulation.
Earthquake Resistant
Lightweight AAC blocks reduce mass of a structure, thus decreasing the impact of an earthquake on a building. The impact of the earthquake is directly proportional to the weight of the building, the building constructed using AAC blocks are more reliable and safer.
Energy Efficient
AAC blocks have excellent thermal conductivity properties which helps in maintaining the inner temperature to be warm during the winters and cool during the summers which ultimately leads to savings in air conditioning cost and consequently enhanced energy efficiency.
Fire Resistant
AAC block construction is non-combustible, fire resistant and can withstand fire from 2 hours to 6 hours depending on the thickness.
Time Saving
Time consumed in building walls decreases due to light weight of the product and its size over conventional clay bricks, decreasing lead time as well as installation time thus reducing time by 20%.
